Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio, will host the 2021 Solheim Cup.
That’s the news from LNP Media’s LancasterOnline, which reported that Lancaster (Pa.) Country Club informed its membership in a letter Friday that it had lost out to Inverness in its bid to host the biennial international women’s team event between the United States and Europe.
“Despite fundraising that exceeded the totals of any previous Solheim Cup, I am disappointed to inform you that LCC was not selected to host the 2021 Solheim Cup,” Lancaster Country Club president Ted Bloom wrote in the letter, according to the web site. “According to the LPGA, we finished a very close second to Inverness Club.”
The LPGA has scheduled a news conference for Wednesday at Inverness Club.
Lancaster Country Club hosted the U.S. Women’s Open last year.
Des Moines Golf & Country Club in Iowa will host next year’s Solheim Cup with Gleneagles Hotel in Perthshire, Scotland, hosting in 2019.
