
A plane carrying Brazilian Serie A club Chapecoense that was flying from Bolivia to Colombia, crashed near its destination of Medellin Tuesday.
According to the BBC, of the 81 people on board, only six survived the crash. One of the survivors later died from their injuries in the hospital.
Chapecoense, a club that earned promotion to Brazil's top divison in 2014, was traveling to Colombia to play in the Copa Sudamericana final Wednesday.
After news of the tragedy spread, clubs and players from across the world shared their thoughts and prayers on social media. Brazilian president Michel Temer has three days of national mourning in the country.
