Updated XFINITY Series Chase grid
While Sprint Cup Series regular Kyle Larson won Saturday's XFINITY Series race at Texas Motor Speedway, the eight drivers remaining in the inaugural XFINITY Chase playoffs waged some intense battles within the race. Now only next Saturday's race at Phoenix remains before the current Chase field of eight drivers is cut in half and the four remaining will race for the 2016 XFINITY championship on Nov. 19 at Homestead-Miami Speeway. See how they currently stack up.

Brendan Gaughan, 3036 points
Gaughan is in big Chase trouble after finishing 15th at Texas, the lowest of any Chaser. He likely will need to win at Phoenix if he is to advance to the Championship 4 at Homestead.

Darrell Wallace Jr., 3039 points
Like Gaughan, Wallace almost certainly needs to win at Phoenix to stay alive in the playoffs. He gallantly battled to an 11th-place finish at Texas, but remains 20 points behind the fourth-place cutoff.

Ryan Reed, 3054 points
Reed, who finished 12th Saturday, is only five points out of the final transfer spot — but would need to leap over two other drivers if he's going to advance on points after Phoenix. The odds are against him doing that, so he likely will need to win to advance as well.

Justin Allgaier, 3058 points
Allgaier is just one point out of fourth after scratching out a 10th-place finish at Texas in his No. 7 JR Motorsports Chevrolet.

Blake Koch, 3059 points
Koch is the Cinderella story of these NXS playoffs. No one expected him to still be in it, yet here he is holding onto the final transfer spot into the Championship 4 with only one race to go in this round. He's only one point to the good, though, and will need to run well at Phoenix to hang onto the spot.

Erik Jones, 3065 points
Jones needed a good run at Texas and got it, finishing fourth — best of all the Chasers still in the title hunt. He has a six points cushion on Koch in fourth and is good shape to advance as long as he stays out of trouble at Phoenix.

Elliott Sadler, 3074 points
Sadler has been consistent all season and kept up with that theme by finishing sixth Saturday. He's only one out of the points lead heading to Phoenix.

Daniel Suarez, 3075 points
After coming home fifth at Texas, Suarez appears to be in great shape to make the Championshp 4 at Homestead. The driver of the No. 19 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota has a 16-point cushion to work with and needs only a solid run at Phoenix to secure his seat at the Homestead title table.
