Austin Dillon
Outside of his crash at Charlotte, Dillon has been an extremely consistent driver in the second half of the season, posting an average finish of 13.36 in the past 11 races. The pole he won Friday with a lap of 192.301 miles per hour at Texas was his second of the season and his third in 119 career starts.
Joey Logano
The 2014 Texas winner, Logano looks for another Victory Lane in the Lone Star State to clinch a spot in the Championship 4. He’s currently four points below Kyle Busch for the final transfer spot.

Kevin Harvick
Harvick has become familiar with racing from behind in the Chase. He’s found a way to grab a win in each round so far. He was fastest in opening practice and looks for his first win at Texas.

Brad Keselowski
If Keselowski had more laps, he might have chased down Jimmie Johnson and won last week. If his engine didn’t fail him late at Talladega he’d likely still be in the Chase. A lot of ‘ifs’ for the No. 2 team in the Chase.

Kyle Larson
When the Sprint Cup comes to a track that has several racing lanes, Larson becomes an immediate contender. He got his first win at the similar grooved 2-mile Michigan International Speedway earlier this year.

Paul Menard
Matt Borland will be on the pit box for Menard in 2017. Hopefully for him, that’ll be the boost that the No. 27 team needs to be more competitive.

Matt Kenseth
Kenseth has been one of the most consistent drivers at Texas with a career average finish of 9.52, second among drivers in the Chase.

Ryan Blaney
The rookie has had an impressive season and has a bright future ahead of him. He’s struggled at Texas though where his best finish is 29th.

Carl Edwards
Edwards has won at Texas three times and could use a fourth win after having a rough outing at Martinsville that has him 32 points behind the transfer line for the Championship 4.

Kurt Busch
A burst of speed in the opening practice had the elder Busch brother at the top of the speed charts before his SHR teammate passed by him. He still ended up seventh fastest, which is a speed improvement for the No. 41.

Chase Elliott
If Elliott is going to steal a win from the championship contenders, Texas serves as his best chance in the final three races. He finished fifth in the spring race here.

Martin Truex, Jr.
It’s about stealing with for the No. 78 Furniture Row Racing team after being eliminated at Talladega two weeks ago. He contended last week and Martinsville and has been strong on the 1.5-mile tracks all season.

Casey Mears
Mears has struggled to finish strong at Texas Motor Speedway over the past several years with a best finish of 18th in the past 12 races.

AJ Allmendinger
The ‘Dinger has seen a positive trend in the past month, finishing in the top 10 in the past three races. He’ll look to carry that momentum into the Lone Star State.

Jamie McMurray
McMurray made the Chase for the second-consecutive season and when he’s finished the race, it’s usually been a top 10. The issue is that he has two DNFs in the past five races.

Alex Bowman
Bowman has the seat for the No. 88 the remainder of the 2016 season. He’s shown speed and pulled together his career-best finish three weeks ago at Kansas.
Denny Hamlin
Hamlin came close to clinching a spot at Martinsville but his car seemed to fall off at the end of the race. He’s on the plus side of the Chase cutoff but nothing is safe over the next two races unless you win.

Ryan Newman
After barely missing the Chase, Newman has quietly posted decent finishes in the past two months. His worst finish since the playoffs started is 20th at Dover.
Jimmie Johnson
Maybe he’ll catch a Rodeo or a Dallas Stars or Mavericks game while he’s in the DFW area. Point is, Johnson is locked into the championship race, he’d like to add more wins but his focus is on Homestead.

Ricky Stenhouse, Jr.
After a strong fifth-place finish at Talladega, Stenhouse finished last after he crashed early at Martinsville. He’s had his moments in 2016 but hasn’t been able to find enough consistency.
Aric Almirola
Almirola finished 15th last weekend at Martinsville and 8th at Talladega. The No. 43 Richard Petty Motorsports Ford has shown some speed in recent weeks. A good trend for The King’s company.

Danica Patrick
With a best finish of 11th this season, Danica hasn’t lived up to the expectations she had entering 2016.

Tony Stewart
The chance for Smoke to grab his 50th career win is shrinking down to nothing. He was frustrated at Martinsville and blamed himself for his poor finish. We’ll see if he can rebound at Texas.

Kyle Busch
After losing a tire and hitting a wall in the opening minutes of Friday afternoon’s practice, Kyle Busch went to a backup car. Fortunately, he’ll get two practices on Saturday to fine-tune.
Greg Biffle
The rumors have continued to swirl that Biffle will be leaving Roush Fenway Racing at the end of the year and possibly heading to a second JTG Daugherty car. There’s also a chance he calls it a career after 2016.

Trevor Bayne
Bayne received a nice multi-year extension from Roush Fenway Racing earlier this week and could become the featured driver at the Ford team in 2017.

Clint Bowyer
Bowyer can nearly taste 2017 and his move to the No. 14 Stewart-Haas Racing Ford. He seems to be content with riding out 2016 after a lot of early frustrations.

Michael McDowell
McDowell and the No. 95 Circle Sport-Leavine Family Racing Chevrolet has been trending in the right direction at the end of the season. McDowell has finished in the top 20 in three of the past four races. A good step for the small team.

Brian Scott
The moment of the year for Brian Scott came at Talladega two weeks ago when he finished second. He didn’t follow it up with the strongest run at Martinsville, though.

Chris Buescher
Buescher was the Cinderella story of the Chase and hasn’t been as prominent since being eliminated but he heads back to his home state this weekend and would love to have a solid finish.

Kasey Kahne
Consistency came too late in 2016 for Kasey Kahne as he started to perform after missing the Chase. The No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports team looks to close out the season strong.

Regan Smith
The future remains uncertain for Tommy Baldwin Racing and Regan Smith and the team’s finishes have reflected the uncertainty in recent weeks.

Matt DiBenedetto
DiBenedetto’s No. 83 BK Racing Toyota pay tribute to the fallen Dallas police officers from the July attack on them. A pretty awesome way to honor the Dallas PD.

Landon Cassill
The No. 38 Front Row Motorsports team has shown some glimpses of speed in recent weeks but still hovers around the mid-20s most weeks.

Ryan Ellis
Ellis makes his fourth career Sprint Cup start, driving in the No. 93 BK Racing Toyota.

David Ragan
Ragan had a glimmer of hope when he qualified 12th at Martinsville last week but trouble cost him a chance to contend.

Michael Annett
It was announced Friday that Annett will drive the No. 5 JR Motorsports Chevrolet in the XFINITY Series full-time next season. A good move for the 30-year-old driver.

Reed Sorenson
A political stance on the No. 55 car this weekend as Donald Trump will be featured on the ride.

Joey Gase
Gase gets behind the wheel of the No. 32 Go Fas Racing Chevrolet for the sixth time this season.
