Ohio State 62, Nebraska 3 — Final
Urban Meyer and No. 6 Ohio State needed a statement win after struggling in recent weeks, and that’s exactly what they got on Saturday night with a 62-3 rout of No. 10 Nebraska.
Quarterback J.T. Barrett looked as sharp as he has all season for the Buckeyes (8-1), completing 26 of 38 passes for 290 yards and four touchdowns to complement 39 rushing yards. He led the way for an offense that piled up 590 total yards and didn’t punt all night against a defense that ranked 15th nationally in points allowed.
As bad a night it was for the defense, Mike Riley’s offense may have had it worse. The Buckeyes absolutely swarmed the Cornhuskers (7-2), surrendering just 204 total yards and nine completions to two different quarterbacks. The low point of the night was when quarterback Tommy Armstrong was knocked out of the game and carted off the field with a scary-looking head injury.
Armstrong was taken to the hospital but returned to join his teammates on the sideline in the third quarter. The game was well in hand at that point as the Buckeyes led throughout.
