NCWTS decides championship Chase grid at Phoenix
The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will throw down in the Lucas Oil 150 at Phoenix International Raceway Friday night, with five drivers competing for the final three slots in next week’s championship race at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
Veteran Johnny Sauter, who has won the last two Truck Series races, has already locked himself into the Chase. If one of the five remaining Chase hopefuls wins at Phoenix, he would be guaranteed to advance with Sauter.
The top four drivers after Phoenix will settle the championship at Homestead. Whoever finishes ahead of the other three in the last race will be the new Truck Series champion.
Here are the Chase scenarios for the remaining five drivers besides Sauter.

William Byron, 3052 points
Byron, who has shattered the Truck Series rookie victory mark, would clinch a spot in the final by getting 30 points or more at Phoenix. That means a third-place finish and no laps led, fourth and least one lap led, or fifth and most laps led.

Christopher Bell, 3051
Like Byron, Bell drives for Kyle Busch Motorsports. And given that he’s only one point behind Byron, Bell’s numbers are nearly identical: He clinches with 31 points, which equates to second place with no laps led, third place and at least one lap led or fourth and most laps led.

Matt Crafton, 3048
The two-time Truck Series champion is right now in the final transfer spot. His only automatic clinch scenarios are to win or finish second.

Timothy Peters, 3047
Peters can only clinch with a victory, and he won last year's race at the track. He could still get in on points with a strong finish if others have problems.

Ben Kennedy, 3035
It's a simple process for Kennedy this weekend: win the race. It'd be a stretch to sneak in without going to Victory Lane, though still technically possible.
