Meet the 40 finalists eligible for UEFA’s Team of the Year

The time has come for fans to make their voices heard and determine UEFA's 2016 Team of the Year. The final nominees are plentiful, with 40 to choose from. There are four goalkeepers, 12 defenders, 12 midfielders and 12 forwards on the final list. There are some questionable omissions and inclusions in UEFA's list, but there's no going back now! Fans will have until Jan. 3 2017 to pick their formation and vote for their squad, with the final lineup set to be announced on Jan. 5.

Here are all 40 nominees, first by position and then in alphabetical order.
