Kevin Durant and the Warriors, coming off a signature win over Russell Westbrook and the Thunder, came out a little flat Friday night against the Lakers.
In the past couple years, they probably would’ve gotten away with it. But the young, new-look Lakers, coached by former Warriors assistant Luke Walton, were ready for the challenge, and put together a highlight reel against the defending West champs.
Magic had an idea what was working for his Lakers.
After allowing 65 points in the first half, the Warriors woke up in the third quarter.
But the Lakers had the answers, pulling away for a 117-97 win thanks in part to more cold shooting from behind the arc by the Warriors. Steph Curry saw his streak of 157 straight games with a three end as he went 0 for 10. Klay Thompson shot 2 for 10 on threes.
