Final running order in the AAA Texas 500 at Texas Motor Speedway
Despite threatening weather, the AAA Texas 500 at Texas Motor Speedway is now in the books, with Carl Edwards scoring the victory in a race that was both rain delayed and rain shortened. Here’s where all 40 drivers finished deep in the heart of Texas.

Carl Edwards
Edwards was last among the eight Chase drivers coming into this race, but he came on strong at exactly the right time to win and join Jimmie Johnson as the two drivers locked into the championship round of the Chase.

Joey Logano
After an up-and-down Chase to date, Logano needed a big finish at Texas. He led more than half the race — 179 laps in total — but couldn’t seal the deal. Still, second place wasn’t bad at all.

Martin Truex, Jr.
In the spring Texas race, Truex led 141 laps before finishing sixth. He was hoping for a better finish this time out and he got it, although he didn’t win.

Chase Elliott
The presumptive Sunoco Rookie of the Year more often than not has shown good speed wherever he races. Despite battling the flu, Elliott posted an excellent finish.

Kyle Busch
The weekend started off rough for Kyle Busch as he hit the wall in the opening minutes of practice. He slowly made his way toward the front of the field, keeping his championship hopes alive.
Kevin Harvick
A disappointing run at Martinsville a week left Harvick in something of a points hole coming into Texas, where the No. 4 Stewart-Haas Racing Chevrolet was good but not great.
Matt Kenseth
Kenseth came into this race in great position to advance to the Chase finale. The 2003 champ managed to finish inside the top 10 but never seriously contended for the victory.

Kasey Kahne
Momentum came too late for the No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports team after they struggled early in the season. Kahne overcame a 31st-place qualifying performance to make his way up through the field for a solid finish.

Denny Hamlin
One of four Joe Gibbs Racing drivers still alive in the Chase, Hamlin still is chasing his first championship. Ninth place sounds good but it was the worst of all the JGR drivers.

Ryan Newman
Newman and the rest of the Richard Childress Racing squad have run well, but not good enough to win.

Jimmie Johnson
Thanks to his victory at Martinsville, it didn’t matter where Johnson finished at Texas. He’ll race for a championship in two weeks at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Ryan Blaney
Another impressive run for the rookie Wood Brothers Racing driver.

Alex Bowman
Filling in for Dale Earnhardt Jr. in the second half of the season, Bowman has usually been fast, but his luck has not been great, as witnessed by a right-front tire that came apart early in the race.
Brad Keselowski
Keselowski was knocked out of the Chase when he lost a engine at Talladega. And he was nowhere near as good at Texas as his teammate Joey Logano was.

Kyle Larson
After winning the NASCAR XFINITY Series race on Saturday, Larson wasn’t much of a factor as the race went on.

Ricky Stenhouse, Jr.
It hasn’t been a great season for Stenhouse or any of his teammates at Roush Fenway Racing.
AJ Allmendinger
It’s been a up-and-down season for the ‘Dinger, who may get a teammate next year at JTG Daugherty Racing.

Greg Biffle
The rumors have continued to swirl around Biffle leaving Roush Fenway Racing at the end of the year and possibly moving to a second car with JTG Daugherty.

Jamie McMurray
McMurray has had a solid season behind the wheel of the No. 1 Chip Ganassi Racing Chevrolet.

Kurt Busch
Busch is still alive in the Chase but to advance, he might need to win next week. Not a good night at Texas, especially after a pit road speeding penalty.

Chris Buescher
In his home state of Texas with rain in the forecast, Buescher looked to replicate some of his Pocono magic. He fell down a few laps early but still put up a decent showing at his home track.

Aric Almirola
The No. 43 Richard Petty Motorsports team has trended in the right direction in recent weeks with Almriola finished 15th at Martinsville and eighth at Talladega. He followed it up with a decent showing at Texas.

Michael McDowell
McDowell and the No. 95 Circle Sport-Leavine Family Racing team have been trending in the right direction in recent weeks.

Danica Patrick
With a best finish of 11th this season, Danica hasn’t lived up to the expectations in 2016. Her effort on Sunday fell in line with her struggles this season.

Clint Bowyer
Bowyer can nearly taste 2017 with his move to Stewart-Haas Racing. He seems content to finish out the 2016 season after a lot of early frustrations.

Regan Smith
The future remains uncertain for Tommy Baldwin Racing and Regan Smith and the team’s finishes have reflected the uncertainty in recent weeks.

Brian Scott
Scott’s moment of the year came two weeks ago at Talladega when finished second. He hasn’t been able to carry that momentum in the following weeks, he spun early in Texas.

Paul Menard
It’s been a tough 2016 season for Menard, and just past the Lap 140 mark, he blew a right-front tire and hit the wall.

Landon Cassill
The No. 38 Front Row Motorsports team have shown some glimpses of speed in recent weeks but didn’t have much success at Texas.

Trevor Bayne
Bayne received a nice multi-year extension from Roush Fenway Racing earlier this week but had issues early with his handling and fell back in the pack.

Tony Stewart
As Stewart rides into the sunset of his career, his chances of capping off his career with his 50th win becomes more unlikely.

Michael Annett
On Friday, it was announced that Annett would driver full-time in the XFINITY Series in 2017 for JR Motorsports. He’ll look to have improved performance from his recent Sprint Cup results.

David Ragan
Ragan has struggled to finish out some decent qualifying efforts in recent weeks. He ended up near the back of the pack when the race ended Sunday night.

Jeffrey Earnhardt
After Matt DiBenedetto suffered a concussion in Saturday’s XFINITY Series race, Jeffrey Earnhardt was called upon to sub into the No. 83 ride.

Reed Sorenson
The No. 55 car featured a political stance this weekend, but quickly fell down several laps on Sunday night.

Joey Gase
Gase got behind the wheel of the No .32 Go Fas Racing Chevrolet for the sixth time this season and logged some laps to gain experience.

Austin Dillon
No longer in the Chase, Dillon surprisingly put the No. 3 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet on the pole, but on Lap 255, he made contact with David Ragan and went around. And on the next restart, contact with Kevin Harvick wound up with Dillon in the wall.
Ryan Ellis
Ellis made his fourth-career Sprint Cup start on Sunday night, and logged some solid laps to gain more Sprint Cup experience.

Casey Mears
Mears just missed advancing to the final round of Cup qualifying, as he started the race 13th. But he was collateral damage in Austin Dillon’s crash.

Josh Wise
Gray Gaulding will jump into the seat for the No. 30 next weekend. Wise quickly fell down several laps, finishing 40th.
