The Chapecoense tragedy has struck a chord across numerous soccer clubs and players throughout the world. On Wednesday, Paris St. Germain's Edison Cavani paid tribute to the victims affected by the crash with a shirt worn under his PSG kit.
After scoring a penalty against Angers, Cavani took off his PSG kit to reveal a shirt with Chapecoense's crest drawn on with the word “fuerza,” which means “force” or “strength” underneath.

Cavani, a native of Uruguay, was among the many that took to social media to show support for Chapecoense and the victims of the plane that crashed, killing 71 and leaving six survivors.

In addition to the tribute, Cavani's goal was made more special by it being the 100th he's scored in all competitions with the club. Cavani dedicated it to the tragedy-hit Brazilian club.

The Uruguayan's teammates might or might not have known about the planned tribute, but they certainly were on board with it, seen embracing Cavani and patting his makeshift homage.

Unfortunately, Cavani's tribute meant being shown a yellow card. To be fair, referee Frank Schneider didn't have a choice in the matter, even with Cavani's benevolent intent. A player removing their shirt receives a caution, no exceptions. Cavani is probably OK with that small price to pay to show his support.

After the match, Cavani again sent out a message to the grieving club. “I send much strength and blessings to all the families of this great team @chapecoensereal, who now fight to move forward.”
