Dillon on Harvick incident: ‘He flat-out wrecked me’

Trouble struck late for pole-sitter Austin Dillon in the rain-delayed  AAA Texas 500 at Texas Motor Speedway.

Dillon and Kevin Harvick were dueling for a spot in the top five shortly after a restart near the Lap 260 mark of the race.

As the battled for position coming out of Turn 4, Dillon got loose and the rear of his car was tapped from behind by Harvick, sending Dillon hard into the outside wall.

The accident also collected the cars of Casey Mears and Brian Scott and necessitated a lengthy caution to clean up the wrecked cars.

"He flat-out wrecked me," said Dillon. "… He didn’t like it. Silver spoon kid was outrunning him tonight."

Harvick, on his team radio, said, "He (Dillon) checked up in front of me."

The start of Sunday’s race was delayed by nearly six hours because of persistent rain showers and a protracted period of track drying.
