DFS DraftKings contest and suggestions for Week 13

In last week’s DraftKings contest, "raiderway" won the top spot. Drew Brees (36.5 DK points), Mike Evans (33.4), and Tyreek Hill (32.5) were the main contributors.

QB: Drew Brees, Saints ($7,600)

He’s the most expensive quarterback in the player pool for this group of games, but Brees is still worth the investment. The Lions-Saints game has the highest over/under for Week 13 (53.5 total points). In six home games this season, Brees has 19 passing TDs and only four interceptions. He’s also thrown at least three TDs in three of the past four games.

RB: Lamar Miller, Texans ($5,600)

Other than the Eagles’ inability to run against Green Bay, the Packers have struggled in the run defense department. Rob Kelley ran for 137 with three TDs two weeks ago and Green Bay has allowed seven rushing TDs to opposing backs in the past five games. Miller has a TD-no touchdown-TD-no touchdown trend going right now, which means he’s due for a score this week. Plus, with his price tag so low, you should take advantage of the value.

WR: Tyrell Williams, Chargers ($6,100)

When a player scores in three straight games and receives at least 11 targets in back-to-back games, he tends to stand out. That’s the case for TWill. His price tag started at $5K in Week 9 and is now just over $6K. That is still great value for a receiver who has produced at least 18 DK points in four of the past five games.

TE: Coby Fleener, Saints ($3,500)

We must consider the matchups, regardless of how bad the player has been. Fleener might be the biggest disappointment in 2016, but he’ll get his shot at redemption this week. Detroit is notoriously bad at defending opposing tight ends. We already mentioned the high over/under given to this game. Don’t overthink it. Just add Fleener and move on.

D/ST: Denver Broncos ($3,900)

While it’s wise to go cheap on the D/ST position, sometimes it’s smart to add the top dog. Denver is the most expensive option for this slate and the Broncos get one of the most turnover-prone quarterbacks in the league for Week 13. Jacksonville’s Blake Bortles is tied for the lead with Ryan Fitzpatrick and Brock Osweiler with 13 INTs this season. The Broncos should help Bortles add to his total and possibly return one for a TD.
