Florida State owns a six-game winning streak in the series with Boston College, but the great equalizer does take its toll, leaving the Seminoles at just 3-3 against the spread over that run. Take things back a bit further, and FSU is only 4-6 ATS over the last 10 meetings with Boston College. The Seminoles continue playing out a lost season when they host the Eagles on Friday night.
Point spread: The Seminoles opened as 23-point favorites, according to sportsbooks monitored by Odds Shark (line updates and matchup report).

Why the Boston College Eagles can cover the spread
Boston College pulled an upset of North Carolina State two weeks ago but succumbed to the almost inevitable letdown and Louisville last week 52-7. The Eagles gave up a 69-yard touchdown bolt by Heisman Trophy favorite Lamar Jackson 76 seconds into the game and trailed 38-0 before hitting the board on a forgettable Saturday afternoon at Alumni Stadium.
Two weeks ago, Boston College beat the Wolfpack outright 21-14 as 16-point dogs, winning the ground battle by a 168-31 margin. In fact, the Eagles have outrushed six of nine opponents this season; they’re 4-2 straight up and 3-2-1 ATS in those games.
Why the Florida State Seminoles can cover the spread
Florida State avoided a second straight defeat last week, coming from behind to win at North Carolina State 24-20. The Seminoles trailed most of the day and 20-10 late in the third quarter. But they then scored the last 14 points of the game, the final seven on a 19-yard Deondre Francois-to-Travis Rudolph hookup with three minutes left, and hung on from there.
On the day, freshman Francois threw for 330 yards and that game-winning score, connecting with sophomore Nyqwan Murray nine times for 153 of those yards. Murray, who had just five catches through the first seven games this season, now has 15 for 249 yards and a touchdown over the last two.
Florida State is 6-3 on the season and out of the running for anything, but in reality, it is about two or three plays away from being 8-1.
Smart pick
Outside of that victory over North Carolina State, the Eagles are miserable against Power Five competition this season, going 0-5 SU and 0-4-1 ATS and losing three times by 45 points or more. By the numbers, the Boston College defense is supposedly pretty good, but it didn’t look too great against Virginia Tech, Clemson, Syracuse or Louisville, giving up at least 476 yards to each of those foes. Florida State, meanwhile, has its flaws but is still the smart wager at online sports betting sites in this spot.
