
Before going under the knife Monday for surgery to repair damaged ligaments in his right ankle, Chicago Bears guard Kyle Long shared a picture of the badly bruised limb.
Call this picture "the cost of being a professional football player":
The three-time Pro Bowl selection suffered the injury in Week 10 when the Chicago visited Tampa Bay and Bears fullback Paul Lasike caught a shovel pass and ended up rolling over Long’s ankle.
At a later date, the 6-foot-6, 320-pound fourth-year pro will also require surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder.
