Anderson Silva most tested USADA fighter of the year

Anderson Silva’s failed UFC 183 drug test for anabolic steroids has put the United States Anti-Doping Agency on red alert.

According to the official USADA database, Silva is the most drug tested fighter of 2016 and has been tested a total of 15 times this year.

Amy Kaplan of Champions.co compiled a chart of the most tested fighters on the UFC roster.

Silva, 41, was suspended for one year and his decision win over Nick Diaz was overturned to a No Contest.

‘The Spider’ returned to the Octagon at UFC Fight Night 84 and lost a unanimous decision to Michael Bisping at The O2 Arena in London, England. The former middleweight champion also lost in a short notice, light heavyweight bout against Daniel Cormier at the blockbuster UFC 200 pay-per-view in July.

Silva’s 15 drug tests for this year have shown no traces of any performance-enhancing drugs but the Brazilian’s reputation has been called into question since his controversial results from the Diaz fight.

Silva claimed that a mysterious ‘blue vial’ he received from a friend in Thailand was responsible for his failed drug test and has denied knowingly using any PED’s.

Silva is one of the most decorated champions of all time and ruled the middleweight throne for seven years before eventually losing to Chris Weidman in 2013. No date or opponent has been announced for his next bout.
