Active drivers with wins at Phoenix International Raceway
While the focus is on the six drivers still competing for one of the final two spots in the Championship 4 at Homestead-Miami Speedway, there are still 40 cars in the field on Sunday looking for a chance to win the Can-Am 500 at Phoenix.

Tony Stewart, 1
With only two races left in his Sprint Cup career, Smoke heads to Phoenix this weekend in search of his 50th career win. He’s won once before at the 1.022-mile tri-oval, but that win came all the way back in 1999 when he was trying a Joe Gibbs Racing Pontiac.

Matt Kenseth, 1
With hopes of advancing to the Championship 4 at Homestead-Miami Speedway in two weeks, Matt Kenseth heads to a track that hasn’t been his best. He won way back in 2002 when he was still driving the No. 17 Roush Fenway Racing Ford.

Kurt Busch, 1
With a 34-point deficit behind the Chase cutline, the elder Busch brother hopes to recreate some magic from 2005, the last time he won at Phoenix. He’ll likely need a win to make his way into the Championship 4 at Homestead.
Kyle Busch, 1
It was a Busch brothers sweep at Phoenix in 2005 as the younger Busch brother won the fall race after his older brother won in the spring. Both enter this weekend’s race with aspirations to keep their championship hopes alive. Rowdy holds a one-point lead over the gap, which is a much more comfortable position than his older brother.
Ryan Newman, 1
Newman has been quietly consistent since barely missing out on making the Chase for the Sprint Cup and took the checkered flag at the low-banked track in 2010.
Kasey Kahne, 1
He hasn’t led a lap all year but that doesn’t mean that Kasey Kahne hasn’t been competitive in recent weeks. He won the fall race in 2011 at Phoenix and would love to cap off 2016 on a high note.

Denny Hamlin, 1
Hamlin said he likes the pressure that he’s dealing with in trying to make the championship race and while it’s entirely possible for him to advance on points, he’d love to replicate his spring 2012 race and end up in Victory Lane.

Carl Edwards, 2
It’s been three years since Edwards has been to Victory Lane at Phoenix but if anyone is carrying a ton of momentum into this weekend, it’s the driver of the No. 19 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota.

Jimmie Johnson, 4
The six-time Sprint Cup champion has already locked up a spot in the championship race to battle for his record-tying seventh title, but there’s a lot of incentive for him to grab another win to make it harder on his competition to clinch a spot to join him in Homestead.

Kevin Harvick, 8
In the past three years, Kevin Harvick has owned Phoenix with five wins in the last six races. His eight victories are the most on the 1.022-mile tri-oval and he hasn’t finished worse than second since joining Stewart-Haas Racing. A win on Sunday would be one of his most impressive as he’ll have won in each round to make his way back to Homestead.
