6 Peyton Manning career records that Tom Brady can break

Now that Tom Brady has drawn even with Peyton Manning for the most wins (playoff and regular season) in NFL history, it’s only fair to ask which of Manning’s other career marks Tom Terrific could claim before his career is done.

Manning passed Brett Favre in his final season, finishing with the all-time mark of 71,940 passing yards. But Brady ranks fifth at 60,229 yards and, barring injury, he could be in shouting distance in four years, at age 43.

Brady is less than 100 TD throws shy of Manning’s 539, sitting fourth on the all-time list with 446. But the Patriots star isn’t even the active leader – that distinction goes to Saints icon Drew Brees, who has 462 after throwing four Sunday. So Brady likely will pass Manning in 3 1/2 years but still might trail Brees, who’s two years younger than the Patriots star, for the all-time mark.

Manning is tied with defensive tackle Merlin Olsen, offensive lineman Bruce Matthews and tight end Tony Gonzalez for the all-time mark of 14 Pro Bowl selections. Brady sits at 10 and is a virtual lock to get in this year. It’s not too much of a stretch to predict he will pull even with that quartet in three years. But will he be playing at this level at 44?

He’s drawn even for the overall mark, but Brady, who has 178 wins, is eight victories shy of Manning’s regular-season mark of 186. With the way the Patriots rack up wins year in and year out, this record will be Brady’s sometime in 2017.

It probably comes as a surprise to some that Manning holds this mark, rallying his team 45 times in the final quarter. Brady isn’t too far behind with 38 fourth-quarter comebacks, adding to his total Sunday by rallying the Patriots past the Jets in the final two minutes. But since this category is predicated on specific in-game situations, it’s tougher to gauge Brady’s chances to surpass the record.

Manning is the all-time leader in this category, too, further proof that he came up in the clutch more than many fans either remember or want to admit. Manning, who orchestrated 56 winning drives, leads Brady by seven on the all-time list (Brady also drew closer in this catergory after Sunday's come-from-behind win.) Brady first has to pass Dan Marino (51) to move into second.
