10 records the 10-1 Dallas Cowboys are chasing

The Cowboys are the story of the NFL, as Dallas has won 10 straight games this season — a franchise first — and, led by its dynamic duo of rookies, appears destined to set more records.

“When you get comfortable you're going to fall apart,” Dez Bryant told reporters Friday. “It's still a long season. We have to make sure everyone's mind is right, including mine. We have to be chasing something.”

Well then, here are 10 records — five team, five NFL — that the Cowboys can chase in their final five games of the regular season, and in some cases beyond.

Dallas has won 10 straight, which is its longest streak during a single season. The Cowboys won 11 regular-season games in a row between 1968-69, and 12 from 1971-72, including beating the Miami Dolphins for their first Super Bowl title.

The Cowboys could be going for their 13th consecutive win when they host the Bucs on Dec. 18 on FOX.

Dallas has won 13 games twice in its history: in 1992 and 2007. That '92 team went on to win the Super Bowl.

The Cowboys could be going for win No. 14 when they host the Lions on Dec. 26 in a primetime matchup.

Eric Dickerson set the NFL record with 1,808 rushing yards for the Rams in 1983, and Dallas' Ezekiel Elliott trails him by 609 yards with five games to go. 

Zeke would have to average 122 yards a game the rest of the way to break Dickerson's rushing record — and 142 if he wants to break Dickerson's record for yards from scrimmage by a rookie (2,212). Elliott's averaging 136.5, so it's certainly within reach, even if Dickerson doesn't think so.

Another Dickerson record Elliott could catch: 20 touchdowns by a rookie. Zeke has 12 after scoring twice on Thanksgiving, one shy of Tony Dorsett and Herschel Walker's Cowboys rookie record.

Dak Prescott has led the Cowboys to 10 straight wins, including in Week 10 against Ben Roethlisberger and the Pittsburgh Steelers. That's the longest streak by a rookie in the Super Bowl era since Big Ben won 13 straight in 2004.

Dak could set the record with No. 14 in Week 16 against the Lions.

The record is 26, set by Peyton Manning in 1998 and matched by Russell Wilson (3) in 2012. Wilson threw only 10 interceptions that season, giving him the best differential (+16) ever by a rookie.

Both records are within reach of Dak Prescott, who's passed for 18 TDs and just 2 INTs this season.

How sweet is this? Dak Prescott could take a record away from not one but two NFC East rivals. Nick Foles set the record (minimum 12 TD passes) with the Eagles in 2013, throwing 27 TDs and 2 INTs. Robert Griffin III set the rookie record with the Redskins in 2012, with 20 and 5.

Dak Prescott could take down both of them, as he's sitting on 18 TDs and 2 INTs. But watch out for Tom Brady, who has 16 TDs and just 1 pick.

Roger Staubach owns the highest mark in team history, a 104.8 rating set in 1971, his third season. No one else has even broken 100.

Now consider that Dak Prescott, a rookie, has a 108.6 passer rating.

Dak Prescott broke Tom Brady's rookie record when he attempted the first 176 passes of his career without being picked off. Now he's back on another streak of 145 consecutive passes without a pick. 

He'll have to remain perfect for at least a couple more games if he's going to surpass Troy Aikman, who threw 216 consecutive passes without a pick in 1999.

Dak Prescott tied Don Meredith with his fifth rushing TD of the season in the Cowboys' Thanksgiving Day win. 

Prescott, who rushed for 41 TDs in college, equalled the mark Meredith set in 1966. His five TD runs are the most among all QBs this season.

The Cowboys have rolled off 10 straight wins since losing their season opener 20-19 to the Giants. The only teams to surpass that are the 1997 San Francisco 49ers (11) and the 1969 Minnesota Vikings (pictured, 12). 

The Cowboys could tie that mark in a Week 14 rematch at the Giants, and break it the following week against the Bucs.
