Dustin Poirier calls out Khabib Nurmagomedov, Tony Ferguson on Twitter

Khabib Nurmagomedov, Conor McGregor, Tony Ferguson. Those are the ‘big three’ — the creme de la creme — of the lightweight division, but let’s not forget about Dustin Poirier.

The 29-year-old has beat three former champions in his last three fights, and ‘The Diamond’ is looking to capture a world title of his own in his next bout.

Poirier took to Twitter to call out Nurmagomedov and Ferguson, claiming that he would be ‘victorious’ against either man. Poirier originally called for a title shot after his stunning TKO of former lightweight, champion Eddie Alvarez, at UFC on FOX 30.

From a rankings perspective, Poirier is more than deserving of a fight against either Ferugson or Nurmagomedov. But, in the age of the ‘money fight’, the UFC will undoubtedly be looking to book a championship rematch between Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor. If that is the case, however, Poirier could go on to fight ‘El Cucuy’ in a number one contender’s bout.

The American Top Team product was originally expected to face Nate Diaz last November but was forced to withdraw due to injury.
